The ministry of Wilhelm Görlich – the first priest of the Parish Saint Michael in Opole, fell between the years 1937-1958. During the Hitlerian time the place of worship was built for the parish and as a part of a garrison as well. Throughout World War II the most difficult of challenges was the protection of the parish' members against Nazi-ideology. Since the winter of 1944 people experienced evacuation, death and destruction. The church was also damaged. In spring 1945 there was a new context for the parish. The Opole region became a part of Poland. The restoration and creation of the new society of ethnic Silesians with migrating Poles had started. The ministry was handicapped by the public authority.
