The practice of the anointing of the sick throughout the centuries until Vaticanum II

As an introduction, the elaboration shows the biblical roots of the sacrament of the anointing of the sick. Further, it presents a short history of its practice from apostolic times during Carolingian Renaissance until the Second Vatican Council. The author of this paper reveals the source of the crisis of understanding of the sacrament. In the final part of the study it presents the interpretation of the Council of Florence and the Council of Trent regarding the sacrament of anointing of the sick and describes the practice after the Council of Trent until the Second Vatican Council.Jako wprowadzenie w artykule ukazano biblijne źródła sakramentu chorych. Następnie krótko zaprezentowano historię praktyki tegoż sakramentu od czasów apostolskich, poprzez okres renesansu aż do Soboru Watykańskiego II. Autor ukazuje źródła kryzysu rozumienia sakramentu. W końcowej części opracowania zaprezentowano interpretację sakramentu chorych według Soborów Florenckiego i Trydenckiego oraz opisano jego praktykę po Trydencie, aż do Vaticanum II
