Civil defence – institution displaced by crisis management solutions?

The aim of the article is to analyse the institution of civil defence regarding its place in the Polish law. Having conducted a thorough analysis of the subject-matter literature and binding acts of law, similarities and differences between civil defence and crisis management are shown in the light of law in force. Firstly the origin, structure and area of operation of both institutions are presented, then the areas of life encompassing civil defence and crisis management operation are shown. Finally the considerations are carried out on the advisability to return to full civil defence rights in Poland
