Greetings and goodbyes in written internet interactions. A comparative franco-polish study of mothers discussion forums The paper studies greetings and goodbyes in the mothers discussion forums in order to find out, on the one hand, the contemporary tendencies in French and Polish, and on the other hand, the cultural variations of the interactional practices of the Internet users. In our case, we identify them in the field of politeness of the written interactions where the openings and the closing forms contribute to set up and sustain politeness, apoliteness or hyperpoliteness of the speech (Kerbrat-Orecchioni 2005 : 209). We also try to observe how the genre influences these practices
