The purpose of the work was to obtain a polymer material useful for conservation practice by means of radiation polymerization. Studies were made on parameters of radiation polymerization of a number of monomers and polymers. A chosen group of products was studied thoroughly, with a particular attention paid to the properties important for the realisation of the work’s goal (adhesion, hardness, elasticity, colour, smell, waterproofness, permeability of water and vapour and others). Properties of the preparations obtained were compared with a polymer which has a trade name of Acryloid B72 and which is often used in the conservation of works of art.
