Religious education and its place in post-modernism

Both notions „religious education” and ‘education” are unambiguous, and the processes hidden behind them are more described than defined. Certainly, it is connected with unambiguity typical for post –modernism. Tis may result in appearance of higher interests in religion. Te phenomenon requires reflection upon theory and practice of the religious education, which has always belonged to a crucial domain in the theory of upbringing and has been an important research subject. Its distinctiveness and specialization is formed (should be formed) by pedagogy of religion that is acknowledged as both theological and pedagogical discipline. Te notion „religious education” describes the phenomenon of teaching and learning based on religious sources. Its range and interpretation is characterized by religious community. Te main element fitting the religious education into the general process of education is the axiological area. Te task for the religious education means mainly developing the self – interpretation competence of existence, rooted in the religious sources. Te confession dimension within scientific reflection upon theory and metatheory of religious teaching, learning, and upbringing is undertaken by Religious Education and its place in postmodernism. Z pewnością jest to związane z niejednoznacznością typową dla ponowoczesności. Być może dlatego pojawia się coraz większe zainteresowanie religią. Zjawisko to wymaga refleksji nad teorią i praktyką edukacji religijnej, która zawsze stanowiła ważną dziedzinę w teorii wychowania oraz ważny przedmiot badań. Jej odrębność i specjalizację kształtuje (powinna kształtować) pedagogika religii, uznawana za dyscyplinę zarówno teologiczną jak i pedagogiczną. Termin „edukacja religijna” opisuje zjawisko nauczania i uczenia się opartego na źródłach religijnych. Ich zakres i interpretację określa wspólnota wyznaniowa. Głównym elementem wpisującym edukację religijną w proces kształcenia ogólnego jest płaszczyzna aksjologiczna. Zadaniem edukacji religijnej jest głównie rozwijanie kompetencji samodzielnej interpretacji egzystencji w oparciu o źródła religijne. W wymiarze konfesyjnym naukową refleksję na temat teorii i metateorii religijnego nauczania, wychowania i uczenia się podejmuje katechetyka
