The arts in Poland’s‘quality’ periodicals of the 1940s and 1950s: A research report

Although it is concerned with the situation of the Polish press in the 40s and 50s of the last century, this article does not pretend to be exhaustive in its coverage. Its scope is limited to those titles that showed interest in the arts and thus made an impact on the development of Polish art at that time. The principal aim of this study is to present the highlights of contemporary discussions about art, ie. to outline the major themes of the debate and signpost them to the key text
