This paper discusses properties of TiCN coating. The coatings was deposited by PVD technique (physical vapour deposition) on high-speed tool steel (HS6-5-2C). The tribological tests were performed with an Anton Paar tribometer for a ball-on-disc configuration in the sliding contact. The surface texture of the discs was analyzed before and after the tribologial tests with a Talysurf CCI Lite optical measurement system.
