In 2015, 10,863 thousand tonnes of municipal solid waste were produced in Poland. It is estimated that approx. 50% of this volume consists of biodegradable waste. Due to its properties, such waste degrades swiftly and poses a threat and a burden to the environment. System solutions regarding the collection and management of biodegradable waste constitute an example of sustainable development and green economy owing to the development of green products, services, public procurement, investments, and jobs.
