Atmospheric pollution by particulate matter has become increasingly important in recent years, because it was found that these airborne particles have various adverse effects on the environment and human health. To extend the knowledge of such pollutants, detailed characterization of sizes, morphology and chemical composition of individual airborne particles is desired.
