The paper presents the main achievements of the author on the development of blood contacting materials. The main objective of the work is to elaborate materials dedicated for the heart support systems. Appropriately designed biomaterial surfaces enable fully controlled cellular differentiation, proliferation, and even restoration of the tissue structure on solids. The paper presents two approaches to modify the surface, which can control the life processes of tissue. The first solution considers the topography in the form of cell niches.
