This research attempts to analyse difficulties encountered by Moroccan pupils (15-17 years) in solving school mechanical situations involving modelling that requires the use of the concept of force. Using a qualitative method, and in particular analysis of productions obtained through a questionnaire and individual interviews, this study has permitted in a way to detect learning difficulties due to modelling activities and to elucidate in other way the sources explaining these difficulties.
