W zależności od parametrów nanoszenia, różnią się one bio-fizycznymi oraz mechanicznymi właściwościami, DLC są amorficzne i zawierają około 60% diamentu oraz 40% grafitu, NCD składają się niemalże całkowicie z czystego diamentu.
