When conceptual obstacles open new pedagogical perspectives : an account of a personal experience As a teacher participating in investigations with an INRP research team, the author came to realise that some existing conceptions held by 10th grade students can hinder their understanding of living processes. This realisation led him to reform his teaching practices by putting more focus on the students themselves. This change in approach was made with respect to the first set of conceptual obstacles that had been identified by the research team.
