The obstacles to teacher training created by the conceptions which prospective teachers have of science, teaching and learning The beliefs of teachers regarding knowledge in general and scientific knowledge in particular, are directly related to the way they understand and teach science. These beliefs often constitute significant obstacles both to teacher training and to a real improvement of teaching-learning processes. With this in mind, we first illustrate the diversity of the teachers’ conceptions of science and education by referring to previous studies.
