Abstract In the old barriadas of the northern and southern zones of Lima (conos norte y sur) there has appeared a new demand for housing caused by the fact that the children of the original settlers have reached adulthood and are forming new families. Starting with the demographic and socio-economic description of these new families, this article seeks to identify their residential paths by analysing their present situation (dependance on their parents, still living at home, as tenants or in their own homes) and by evaluating the options they have for solving housing problem in the context of the Lima market —these include private sales, state housing programs, remaining in the old barriada or participation in new land invasions.Résumé Dans...
