L’amathia de Penthée Aspects de la connaissance dans les Bacchantes d’Euripide

Pentheus’ amathia. Aspects of Knowing in Euripides’ Bacchae ̶ Moving from the analysis of amathia, with which Dionysus reproaches Pentheus, we examine the various aspects of knowing that are staged in the Bacchae. It is initiatic knowledge that the god asks the city to acquire, but for Pentheus and Agaue, this knowledge turns into a dramatic staging of suffering. In this way, the Bacchae seems to create a ritual practice in order to transform it into a tragic spectacle.En partant de l’analyse du reproche que Dionysos fait à Penthée d’être amathês, nous nous interrogeons sur les différents aspects de la connaissance dans les Bacchantes. Si c’est une connaissance d’ordre initiatique que le dieu demande à la cité d’acquérir, le savoir se résout pour Penthée et pour Agavé dans une souffrance pathétiquement mise en scène. Aussi les Bacchantes semblent-elles ré-élaborer une pratique rituelle pour la transformer en spectacle tragique.Marseglia Rocco Rosario.
