Radiochirurgia stereotaktyczna za pomocą urządzenia Gamma Knife to metoda radioterapii, umożliwiająca dostarczenie zaplanowanej dawki promieniowania do wyznaczonego obszaru w obrębie głowy. W leczeniu wykorzystuje się techniki lokalizacji stereotaktycznej, a dawkę promieniowania dostarcza się najczęściej w jednej frakcji. Urządzenie to posiada 192 źródła kobaltu Co-60. Źródła znajdują się w 8 sektorach, po 24 źródła w każdym sektorze. Podczas leczenia dla każdego sektora można wybrać kolimator o wielkości 16 mm, 8 mm, 4 mm lub pozycję blokowania, czyli wyłączenie sektora. Rozmiar kolimatora określa wielkość wiązki promieniowania gamma. Metodą tą można bezpiecznie i skutecznie leczyć zmiany nowotworowe, naczyniowe i schorzenia czynnościowe. ...
