The article presents a method and a system for monitoring the processes of joining the materials with use of advanced vision techniques. The method and system are intended for use with the FSW joining method or similar techniques. The monitoring method consists in using a dual vision system comprised of a visible light camera and an infrared camera. The images recorded by both vision tracts are used to monitor the parameters of the process and to identify possible non-conformities of the weld. The developed system allows the monitoring of the process during the production of the joint with non-destructive, contactless techniques.
