Podstawy technologiczne spalania odpadów komunalnych a normy emisji zanieczyszczeń

Technological principles of municipal waste incineration are analyzed with reference to the lack of legislation for the func-tioning of incinerators in Poland. Long-years'experience gained by the member countries of the EU has shown unequivocally that a rational solid-waste management system of a large city must include thermal methods of waste utilization in addition to the conventional ones, such as selective collection of wastes at the source of origin (glass, paper, metals, organic raw material, plastics), collection of hazardous wastes (batteries, fluorescent lamps, etc.) and sanitary landfills. Thermal methods of utilizing solid wastes comprise incineration. Thermal processing via modem incinerators using the best available technologies is both safe and friendly to the environment
