Następnie artykuł opisuje normy promieniowania ustalone dla materiałów budowlanych i wymagania ustawowe jakie muszą spełniać budynku w celu ochrony przed naturalnymi źródłami promieniowania pochodzącego z zastosowanych materiałów budowalnych i gazu radonu. W Polsce prowadzony jest stały monitoring wybranych materiałów pod kątem promieniowania.
