A great number of works have been devoted to developing different medical decision support systems, based on an image data. Such systems combine a wide range of methods for digital image analysis and interpretation. It has been proven that one of the most useful sources of information encoded in the image is its texture. Texture Analysis (TA) provides many important discriminating characteristics, not normally perceptible with visual inspection. With properly chosen TA methods, an image-based diagnosis could be considerably improved. However, the choice of the methods is not an easy task and often depends on the nuances of each diagnostic problem.
