Ocular melanoma and melanocytoma are the most common tumors that occurs in dogs and cats. Ocular melanomas are known to be malignant in cats, but melanomas are mostly benign in dogs and have a low incidence of metastasis. In dogs melanomas are locally invasive, and the prognosis is poor when they spread to destroy the eyeball. Some important tumors are: limbal melanocytoma, uveal melanocytoma and diffuse iris melanomas in the cats. These tumors can cause glaucoma or uveitis of the eyeball. Therefore, early diagnosis is important for achieving a good prognosis for dogs and cats with ocular melanoma.Spośród nowotworów gałki ocznej u psów i kotów stosunkowo częstymi zmianami są te, które wywodzą się z tkanki barwnikotwórczej.
