Purpose Chronic postoperative inguinal pain (CPIP) is a frequent complication after inguinal surgery with a significant decrease in quality of life. There is still no clear algorithm regarding surgical treatment. The aim of this systematic review was to provide an overview on the principles and outcome of surgical interventions for CPIP based on the available literature. Materials and methods A literature search was performed using the databases PubMed and SCOPUS following the PRISMA statement.
