He is no respecter of persons and in a moment everyone experiences it, that is why humanity's eager desire to decipher the enigma of pain. The human being in his constant fight against pain has tried to overcome it by searching for some divine miracle, others prefer to ignore it and even ignore it, but a significant group of people have "hit the mark" finding purposes in pain, and through this attitude they have done from their experience a learning that allows them to help others in a similar situation. The structure of this text begins with a brief tour of the definitions that various authors make about pain, the reactions that people have presented to the experience of such an experience are analyzed, with the aim of understanding the purpose behind such an experience. inexplicable and unavoidable situation.El dolor ha sido intensamente estudiado por el hombre desde diferentes campos como: la medicina, psicología, sociología, religión etc. con el fin de dar respuestas razonables a esta ineludible sensación, sin embargo, no existe nada tan recóndito como la realidad misteriosa que se esconde detrás del dolor. El dolor es parte de la realidad de vivir en un cuerpo mortal y vulnerable. La estructura de este texto inicia con un breve recorrido por las definiciones que hacen varios autores acerca del dolor, se analizan las reacciones que han presentado las personas ante la vivencia de tal experiencia, con el objetivo de comprender el propósito que se esconde detrás de tan inexplicable e inevitable situación
