Cognitive impairment in women with breast cancer undergoing chemotherapy. Integrative literature review 2021

Las mujeres con diagnóstico de cáncer de mama se quejan de problemas cognitivos tras la administración de los esquemas farmacológicos sistémicos. Esto conduce a estudiar el efecto de estos tratamientos sobre la cognición y a brindar herramientas al personal de enfermería oncológica para evitar la mitigación de estos daños. Objetivo: Describir el deterioro cognitivo en mujeres con cáncer de mama en tratamiento con quimioterapia de acuerdo con una revisión integrativa de la literatura. Metodología: El presente estudio se realizó bajo la metodología de Revisión Integrativa de la Literatura teniendo como base un enfoque descriptivo. La muestra estuvo conformado por 28 artículos encontrados en las siguientes bases de datos: Proquest, Wiley online Library, EMBASE, Medline, National library of medicine, Scielo, Science Direct, PubMed, Cuiden, EBSCO, Redalyc y LILACS. Plan de análisis: Los artículos que cumplieron con los criterios de inclusión fueron analizados de acuerdo con la metodología CASPE. Resultados: Se encontraron 28 estudios sobre el deterioro cognitivo asociado a la administración de quimioterapia, estos estudios encuentran un deterioro cognitivo leve y especifico en un porcentaje variable de pacientes. Conclusiones: Existen estudios cualitativos y cuantitativos de todos los niveles de evidencia que documentan esta alteración existente en pacientes con cáncer de mama y administración de quimioterapia, el personal de enfermería debe estar a la vanguardia de dicho daño y enfocar su proceso de atención de enfermería en la limitación de esta condición. The sample consisted of 28 articles found in the following databases: Proquest, Wiley online Library, EMBASE, Medline, National library of medicine, Scielo, Science Direct, PubMed, Cuiden, EBSCO, Redalyc and LILACS. Analysis plan: Articles that met the inclusion criteria were analyzed according to the CASPE methodology. Results: 28 studies were found on cognitive impairment associated with the administration of chemotherapy, these studies found a mild and specific cognitive impairment in a variable percentage of patients. Conclusions: There are qualitative and quantitative studies of all levels of evidence that document this existing alteration in patients with breast cancer and administration of chemotherapy, the nursing staff must be at the forefront of said damage and focus their nursing care process on the limitation of this condition.
