Emotional Intelligence (EI) stands as an essential element for establishing and maintaining quality interpersonal relationships and developing an adequate therapeutic relationship (Schutte, Malouff, Bobik, & Coston, 2001). In nurses, sensitivity to patients' moods and emotions is fundamental, it is necessary to understand the meaning of the patient's needs and should not be considered in isolation from actions and thoughts (Freshwater & Stickley, 2004).
