Chinelo Okparanta\u27s 2015 novel Under the Udala Trees is an African coming-of-age novel centered around a young Igbo girl named Ijeoma who lives in Nigeria during The Nigerian Civil War. Okparanta\u27s novel examines Post-Colonialism in a new light, one that embraces the intersectionality of the effects colonization had on African Queer identities. This work draws from previously established research in Post-colonialism, Multi-Cultural Feminism, Womanism, and Queer studies to examine how Under the Udala Trees explores intersectionality within the context of Queer African stories
