Objectives. To determine what the effects of histology and grade of ovarian cancer are on the outcome of cancer evidence following combined treatment (surgery and chemotherapy) versus surgery alone, in women above and below the age of 55 in South Florida. Background. Ovarian cancer is devastating, and the diagnosis is usually made in the later stages of the disease. Approximately 22,000 women will develop ovarian cancer this year in the U.S. and approximately 16,000 will die this year from the disease. The treatment options depend on the stage of the disease including surgery, chemotherapy and/or radiation. Methods.
