The anxiety that hovers all as many students find themselves wondering what to major in, relearning how to study, frantically choosing classes, and somehow, some students find themselves in a science class. The first day of Biology class becomes the breakthrough for a realm of questions and remarkable discoveries. To think that all of what is considered life has the same origin made of the cell. A single cell containing DNA needed for the organism to develop into its own unique self. The cell theory states that all cells are the basic building blocks of all living organisms and that all cells come from other cells. Robert Hooke, the “father of the cell” was the first to initially discover the cell. Life lies within the hands of cells and biology reminds us of it as life can connect through such small wonders. Cells give light to what it is to regenerate, grow, expand, and prosper. They make the pathway to each thing that crosses a person’s sight, might, and soul. The cell should be represented and praised because without it, there is no life. The darkness of the piece displays the beginnings of life as life seems to appear out of thin air. The vine, bird, mushroom, and fish give way to the life found on land and in aquatic environments. The neurons make way in and through these organisms since they are what give life action. These neurons are a vibrant purple, blue, and pink to draw the attention of mystical yet beautiful neurological connectivity. The outline of the girl is the representation of human life that stems from a cell and is in the middle to represent the impact that one human can have on the rest of the environment. The black matter in her head leaves interpretation for who that person is. The meshing of organisms concentrated in the middle of the piece resemble the importance that the cell is present in all living things and how all creatures of the world are constantly working for the next generation of organisms. In a world that feels cold, disconnected, and broken, the cell is the living reality that all are connected. If one falls, all fall. The importance of taking care of the life around us and taking care of the one Earth all organisms have in common. The cell is the end and the beginning.
