In adults, cardiac injury results in loss of cardiomyocytes (CM) and subsequent scar formation with heart failure symptoms. Although novel treatment approaches prolonged life span of patients with heart failure, the damaged myocardium cannot be cured, resulting in an unacceptable high prevalence of patients suffering from heart failure. In the current project, during the last years in the laboratory of Dr. med. P. Jakob/Prof. Dr. med. U. Landmesser, we established a forward microRNA-transfection protocol using a liposome-based approach in human iPSC-cardiomyocytes (iPSC-CMs) that results in a high transfection efficiency.
