As a complex system, the brain flexibly processes information through dynamic reconfiguration of distributed brain regions at sub-second time scale. A major endeavor in neuroscience is to describe the spatiotemporal organization of the brain as a series of transient “functional connectivity states” using time-resolved analysis. This field is gaining momentum since it not only allows tackling cognitive processes but also holds valuable information about functional alterations of key connectivity patterns in neurological pathologies.
