This study reviews cognitive programmes applied to children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). It carries out an in-depth analysis of the programmes that include self regulation training, their efficiency, the most suitable conditions for their application and the effect produced by their combination with other cognitive and behavioural techniques. Finally, this study explains the clinical results derived from the application of a selfregulation scheme adapted from Meichenbaum’s Self-Instructional Training Programme (Orjales, 1991), the application of this scheme with new self regulations, and the use of such scheme for the selection and sequencing of training tasks
