This study seeks to provide information about the situation and needs of university students with disabilities. In this regard, the paper gives information related to Spanish legislation about this group, describes the services, programmes and opportunities offered to these students, and reviews and describes the main field studies in the scientific literature which carry out research on the situation, the characteristics and other aspects related to university students with disabilities. Finally, as an illustrative example, it presents the data and conclusions from a study conducted by the University of Oviedo, dealing with their disabled student
