Includes bibliographical references.Includes illustrations. The surface adsorption potential for oxygen and monatomic Bi adsorbates has been determined for Bismuth Telluride. The ground state energy, average distance and most probable distance from the surface for low density adatoms of bismuth and diatomic oxygen have been determined and found to be -6.608X10⁻² a.u.,7.143a.u 4.762 a.u, respectively for bismuth and -1.714X10⁻² a.u 6.980 a.u,4.653 a.u, respectively for diatomic oxygen. The lateral dependence of the potentials has been determined and preliminary conclusions regarding the surface mobility of the adatoms are made.M.S. (Master of Science
