Includes bibliographical references. This study originated in the investigator's realization of the need for a valid method of predicting the level of achievement that a student might be expected to attain in high school physics. In extreme cases as high as 10% to 15% of the students taking high school physics do wholly unsatisfactory work. These students should select courses likely to be more profitable to them than physics. As individuals, they gain little or nothing as a result of taking the course and might to some extent be a detriment to other students.M.S. (Master of Science
