High-grade gliomas are brain tumors associated with very poor prognosis. At least for some of the gliomas, one of the reasons seems to be that the brain tissue which appears healthy at radiological examination is actually infiltrated by tumor cells, over distances of several centimeters. Then treatment, even when multimodal (irradiation, chemotherapy and surgery), isn't able to remove all tumor cells, which causes recurrences and finally the demise of the patient. To better predict the invasion of brain tissue by the glioma cells, and thus enhance the treatment of these tumors, this PhD work suggests to complete the existing mathematical models of this biological phenomenon by taking into account the polarization of cells.
