High speed coating of SCS-6 silicon carbide fiber by liquid titanium is a new industrial process designed to manufacture metallic matrix composites at a lower cost. However, due to expected high speed in the coating process, a lack of reactivity is observed between liquid titanium and ceramic fiber. Because of these high speeds, large titanium drops are also formed on the coated fiber. The work presented in this doctoral thesis aimed to identify and understand the several mechanisms occurring in this high speed coating in order to propose an improvement of the industrial process.Both experimental and numerical studies are used to determine the parameters responsible of the coating and the ones of thickness stability.
