In France, the 1-year mortality rate is 35% in subjects aged 80-89 years with heart failure, and 50% after the age of 90 years. In octogenarians, heart failure is associated with high rates of cardiovascular and non-cardiovascular events, and is one of the main causes of hospitalization and disability.
