In order to accelerate product flow, reduce inventory levels and make economies in transportation, companies in almost all industries have set up cross-dock centres. These centres are an intermediate point of consolidation in a supply chain. Car manufacturers Renault and Nissan rely on an international network of crossdock platforms to link suppliers of OEM parts with overseas production plants.
