International audienceThe details of the new economic models of newspaper companies are widely discussed in the academic literature. However, the various consequences that these economic rationalities have among editorial staff working for the same newspaper are rarely addressed. Based on a case study of “Cities”, a new section of the French newspaper Le Monde financed by partnerships with private companies, this article considers the concrete consequences that introducing new funding mechanisms has on journalistic work.
