Driven by the anthropogenic emissions of greenhouse gases, the evolution of the atmospheric longwave radiative fluxes is the main cause of the observed climate changes since the preindustrial era. This positive radiative forcing applied to the climate system of the Earth is highly relevant as it triggers important changes in the atmospheric circulation and the hydrologic cycle.
