In this work, the peculiar features (high specific surface, aspect ratio…) of ZnO nanowires (NWs) have been exploited to elaborate nanocomposite coatings combining them either with YAG:Ce or with TiO2. These composites exhibit improved optical or photocatalytic properties respectively compared to the neat YAG:Ce or TiO2 compounds. Via an optimized hydrothermal method, NWs have been synthesized as coatings on the full substrate or photoetched micrometric diffracting gratings.
