Destruction and protection of the city of Palmira: historical heritage amid the Syrian conflict (2015 - 2017).

The present text analyzes the destruction of the cultural heritage of Palmira occurred in what we can call the most important political and military conflict of the 21st century and that in 2021 completes ten years. In the context of the war in Syria, the archaeological site of the ancient city of Palmyra had part of its architectural heritage dynamited by a group of jihadists. In analyzing the act, we contextualize its relationship with Middle East geopolitics and its implications for the country's national heritage and identity. The phenomenon of the Spring came to Syria in 2011, bringing with it the Islamic State or Daesh, opening a conflict that, in general, is considered a terrible humanitarian disaster, accounting for more than 250,000 deaths since 2011. The tool of the act of terror perpetrated by the Daesh in some cities that fell under its dominion represents a political fight that surpasses the aim of rifles and bullets of mortars and directly reaches the territorial unit of the cities.Sem bolsaO presente texto analisa a destruição do patrimônio de Palmira ocorrida no que podemos chamar de o mais importante conflito político e militar do século XXI e que em 2021 completará dez anos. No contexto da guerra na Síria, o sítio arqueológico da antiga cidade de Palmira teve parte do seu patrimônio arquitetônico dinamitado por um grupo de jihadistas. Ao analisar o ato, contextualizamos a sua relação com ageopolítica do Oriente Médio e suas implicações para o patrimônio e para a identidade nacional do país. O fenômeno das Primaveras chegou à Síria no ano de 2011, trazendo consigo o Estado Islâmico ou Daesh, abrindo um conflito que, de modo geral, é considerado um terrível desastre humanitário, chegando a contabilizar cerca de mais de 250 mil mortos desde 2011.
