A STUDY ON STUDENTS' ERRORS IN USINGCOMPARISON DEGREERN(A CASE STUDY AT SMPN 2 INDRAJAYA CALEUE, PIDIE)

This study is conducted to find out the errors made the students of Junior High School in using the comparison degree. The purpose of this study is to investigate which category of comparison degree of adjective the students produce errors mostly either on the comparative degree or on the superlative degree. The population of this study is the third grade students of SMPN 2 Indrajaya Caleue, Pidie. The writer chooses one class to be the sample of this study namely 1114 In analyzing the data, the writer uses the percentage formula. The data analysis shows that the average percentage of students' errors in using the comparative degree of adjective is 62 % and the average the students' errors in using the superlative degree is 75%. It means that the average percentage of students' errors in using the superlative degree is higher than the errors in using the comparative degree.In other words,the students produce errors mostly in using the superlative degree than in the comparative degree
