Measurements on stratospheric aerosols were carried out at Syowa Station (69°00\u27S, 39°35\u27E) in 1983,1984 and 1985. The volcanic eruption of El Chichon (spring 1982,Mexico) possibly disturbed the Antarctic winter stratosphere. The decay time scale of volcanic enhanced aerosol layer is about 9 months
