Students' Perception Toward Target Language use in Teaching EFL in the X Grade of Satya Wacana Christian Senior High School Salatiga

In this paper, students' perception toward the use of Target Language (TL) as a medium of instruction in the EFL classroom was investigated. Some people think that the English-only-approach is the best solution to make the students master the language in classroom. On the other hand, some thinks that it makes the students feel anxious about their performance in the classroom that in the end discourage the students to learn the language. Many teachers may think that emphasizing the Target Language in the classroom may cause positive result. However, do the students agree with that policy? Because of the above reasons, this study aimed to provide an insight about the students' perception using of using only TL in the classroom. The finding in this study shows that the students actually agree to maximize TL in the classroom. However, for difficult material the students also need the teacher to explain the materials in L1
