Este artículo presenta una comparación hístorica de las normas estéticas utilizadas por los poetas en Nicaragua y su influencia en Costa Rica. Se estudian cuatro períodos. El primero analiza la influencia de Rubén Darío. El segundo estudia el proceso vanguardista iniciado por Coronel Urtecho. El tercero aborda la confrontación entre la estética conversacional de Nicaragua y las propuestas trascendentales de Costa Rica.
