Tinjauan Empiris Terhadap Kinerja Industri Asuransi yang Go Public di Bursa Efek Indonesia Periode 2004-2008

There is a strong demand toward an evaluation of the performance of insurance industry aver the time. The evaluation is done in order to maintain society's trust upon the industry healthiness. This research aims to evaluate insurance industry performance during the 2004-2008 period. The empirical data is gathered from Indonesian Stock Exchange website and Biro Perasuransian, which is then analyzed with solvability ratio, liquidity ratio, profitability ratio, and premium stabilization ratio. The research shows that performance of the insurance industry in Indonesian Stock Exchange for 2004-2008 periods war good despite the global economic crisis and natural disasters which occurred in Indonesia. In the future, there is a need for insurance industry to anticipate an adverse condition such as global economic crisis and natural disarters in Indonesia by increasing its capability in bringing out anticipative action
