This thesis describes the construction of a new rubidium 87 Bose--Einstein condensation experiment in which the condensate will be trapped in a ring. The first chapters of this thesis show the design of the vacuum chamber and laser system, which includes a new source that works by frequency-doubling a Telecom laser. The production of the condensate is done in two steps. First a 3D magneto-optical trap located in the first part of the vacuum chamber is loaded with a beam of atoms coming from a 2D magneto-optical trap, then the cold atoms are transferred into a small glass cell, in which they are evaporatively cooled to condensation.
